HISTORY OF NEGLECT FACED BY WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES-WWDs AND HOW IT IS AN OBSTACLE TO EQUALITY
The
women with disabilities have for a long time faced neglect from the
disability studies, and also this has been seen to be common in the
feminist scholarship and the worst is that the issues affecting women
with disabilities have been ignored by disability rights movements.
We find the attitudes of the society running through even to the
disability rights movements and also in the feminists movements. The
society has for a long time looked at the disabled women as women who
are role less and very dependent thus ignoring them when issues of
inclusion and mainstreaming are being addressed.
The discrimination and the cases of being ignored has been seen to be a chain from both those who are concerned with disability issues as well as the feminist movements too. There is a cry from the feminists with disabilities about the feminist’s scholarship for their experiences being excluded from the analysis done by the feminists. This is seen even among the well known feminist scholarship which has been noted to be doing well in attempting to integrate the diversity of the female experiences, but so sad that the experiences of women with disabilities have not been put into consideration at all. Even the most recent cries of being left out from the feminist thoughts as well as the calls for accountability on the differences among the women population still is seen to be doing all these without putting the women with disabilities on board.
The
women with disabilities have now turned to doing the advocacy on
their own that is why we find there are many feminists with
disabilities fighting for the rights of disabled women. The society
has played a big role in intimidating the disabled women, the beliefs
that go around about disability affects women more than it affects
men with disabilities.

Even
though some disability feminists and feminist with disabilities have
gone a step further to publish about the challenges they face, still
the feminist movement has not given any required attention. Instead,
the feminist’s movements are seen to have joined the men in
relegating disabled women to a realm beneath their intellectual and
political ken.
